Industry Insights: The Challenges Remain the Same

June 9, 2025

April and May were jam-packed with industry events. Our team went from the Level Zero Conference to ControlsCon to Automate 2025 in Detroit. Now that our bags are unpacked and we’ve had time to process, the industry insight is clear: the common challenges remain the same. No matter what conference we were at or who spoke with us, the overall feedback is that end users don’t have enough time, money and people to work and protect their operations efficiently and effectively.

Same Old and New Threats

Honeywell’s new research shows that ransomware threats against industrial operators and manufacturers are still on the rise. Specifically, attacks rose by 46% in the first quarter of 2025. So, the threat of a cyberattack, which is not new, is still very much present. What is new is that the threats have become more and more sophisticated.

The need for control and ability to shield OT networks is as pressing as ever before. There was a sense at one event that you can just send everything to the cloud, and it’s more secure. This is not the case. You have to segment your networks in order to gain the control and speed needed to keep pace with the landscape.

Addressing Concerns

What stands in the way of teams adopting the right mechanisms is that they are scared because they don’t know how to handle the next steps. Of course, there are also the concerns over cost and time. While at Automate, we were able to demonstrate how DYNICS addresses all of those areas. We were able to walk attendees through our process of protecting a plant floor network, which comes down to providing end users with an easy way to deploy a tool that establishes network segmentation, offers data visibility, streamlines communication, and does so with products created in the United States, ultimately allowing us to keep our costs down for customers.
